First Hedge Hog Pattern Fired

"This photo was taken on the first run on the German sub U-853 on the evening of May 5, 1945. Most of the time hedge hogs do not go off or explode. This time one did explode. I guess who ever took the picture failed to get that one. Following this successful hedge hog attack, we then made a depth charge run."
