Commissioning Ceremony 1 July 1943, Norfolk Navy Yard
Lieutenant Commander C. R. Simmers in command

DE 157 was sunk 5 May 1944 by German Submarine Attack, U-967, northeast of Oran, Algeria.
29 men were lost.  185 survivors were rescued by USS Laning DE 159 and other ships of the convoy.
