"Tweedy had torpedo tubes removed in Charleston, quad 40mm installed and radar updated.  We were slated for radar picket duty but ended up in Portland, Maine to try and work out a way to defend against the kamikaze"

Webmaster note: DANFS notes TWEEDY was a reserve training ship after being decommissioned 1 August 1962 and continued in that capacity until 1969. I interpret that as meaning she was decommissioned even though she continued as a training ship.
