plankowner. I joined the O'Flaherty in Pearl Harbor after they had been in the invasion of Guam. I came aboard on Oct 24, 1944 and was with her until she was decommissioned and well along going into mothballs in June of 1946. After I came aboard we went on to the Lingayen Gulf in the Philippines, Iwo Jima and
Okinawa. I was one of the most junior officers and resided in the after officers quarters. I served at various times as: assistant 1st LT., assist. gunnery officer, Later as 1st LT., stood watches as
Jr. OD in CIC and after the war was over stood OD watches enroute home to the USA". |
