USS Inch DE 146 Commissioning

USS INCH DE 146

Commissioning Ceremony

"USS INCH DE 146 was built in Orange Texas and commissioned August 9, 1943. After Convoy duty and Hunter Killer duty in the Atlantic, she proceeded to Pearl Harbor when the European campaign
ended. When the war ended, INCH was at Pearl Harbor.  She was decommissioned in Green Cove Springs, FL., in May 1946 and sold for scrap in October 1972.
I entered the Navy in March 1943 and took Boot Training and Radio School at Sampson NTS until November 1943.
I was not a plankowner but boarded INCH in Charlestown, SC., after a Bermuda Shakedown on November 2, 1943. I left her on February 1, 1946 and was discharged on 2/5/46 at Lido Beach, NY."
