My father, John Strawbridge, was on the Neunzer during this time."
Neunzer History from DANFS:
On 1 August 1945 she sailed to New London, Conn., to escort German submarine U-505, captured by Guadalcanal's task group in June of 1944. The sub was exhibited along the east coast and
the Gulf throughout the end of 1945 in a drive to sell War Bonds.
