USS PARLE DE 708

From a Great Lakes BULLETIN article, Friday, November 13, 1970.
The end of the Parle (DE-708). The article reads:

Burial at Sea

The USS Parle (DE-708), former flagship for Reserve Destroyer Division 9ND, was sunk Oct. 27, in a Navy air weaponry training exercise in the Atlantic, 85 miles east of St. Augustine. The ship was bombed by A-7 Corsair 11 pilots who first hit the destroyer’s stern (photo at left); an hour later it rolled over and went under (above). The Parle was decommissioned this summer after 26 years’ service - the last five in the Great Lakes naval reserve fleet. (Photo: PHC Joseph Norcro[ft?]"
