Note the Forward 3" gun on the bow. STURTEVANT was an Edsall Class DE. This class was scheduled to have the 3" guns replaced by the better 5"/38mm, however, these plans were cancelled by the US Navy. The USS CAMP DE 251 was the only ship of this class to get the 5" guns.
